Verdue comes out of running grounds maintenance contracts, not out of a product workshop. It exists because both sides of those contracts were spending real money arguing about work that had already been done.
We ran a grounds maintenance business before we wrote any of this. The work was never the hard part — the reserve got mown, the corridor got slashed. What cost real money was proving it: photo folders, emailed spreadsheets, and a monthly invoice that a council officer had to approve largely on trust.
From the contractor’s side we built Stipa, so a crew could capture proof of service on site in under a minute. But the evidence still landed in a council inbox as an attachment. The council had no live picture, no way to see what was overdue across the whole LGA, and nothing durable to hand an insurer two years later.
Verdue is the other half of that chain. It takes the record the contractor is already producing and turns it into the thing a contract manager actually needs: a live compliance map, an audit trail that cannot be edited after the fact, and one report a month that ends the argument.
Four things we will not trade away.
A site turns green because a verified record says so, not because someone set a status field. If the evidence is not there, the map says so.
We state exactly what is assessed and by whom. Where a certification belongs to AWS rather than to us, we say that — on this site and on a tender response.
We report counts with their sample size and stop there. We do not grade or rank contractors, because software does not know which site was hard.
A compliance portal that makes life worse for the crew gets worked around. Verdue takes the record the contractor was already producing — it does not add a second job to their day.
Verdue is made by Verdure Pty Ltd, a small Queensland software company building tools for the grounds and vegetation trades and the councils that contract them. We are based in Redland City and we build for Australian conditions, Australian contract structures and Australian privacy law — not a US product with the spelling changed.
Verdue sits alongside Stipa, our proof-of-service and job management app for contractors, and Applic, our chemical application log for EPA record-keeping. Records from both flow into Verdue when a contractor works on a council site. You do not need either one to use Verdue.
